Accessibility and help

Heart of Birmingham Teaching Primary Care Trust takes the accessibility and ease-of-use of all of its services very seriously. To help make this website as accessible as possible (by accessible, we mean easy to use regardless of a user's technology or disability), this website has been built to meet WAI (Website Accessibility Initiative) AA standards.

This means that this site has been optimised for access by lots of technologies, whether they be screen readers or older or specialist web browsers.

We also make sure that the writing style of all of the information on this website is clear and easy to understand and meets all of the principles of the Plain English Campaign... so you won't find technical or health jargon here!

Making the text bigger

You can make all of the text on this site bigger or smaller to suit your taste. The way you change the size of the text depends on the web browser you're using. If you use Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox, you can change the size of the text by clicking on 'View' and then 'Text Size'. If you use Opera, you can zoom in and out of the page by clicking 'View' >'Zoom'.

BrowseAloud

Our website is BrowseAloud enabled. This means you can use our site with BrowseAloud. This is a free piece of software which reads the content of each page out loud. This can help everybody read our website including those with low literacy and reading skills, dyslexia, those for whom English is a second language and people with mild visual impairments.

You can download BrowseAloud for free to help you to use this along with thousands of other websites.

Moving around the site

Our website has six main sections. You can move around these by clicking on the buttons in the blue bar which runs along the top of every page. Once you click into a section, you'll see more options appear on the left-hand side. This is where you can find pages of information.

Find the information you need

Our website has a handy search tool which can help you find a page or document if you don't know where to look. There is a search box on the top of every page - just type in a word or phrase to search for pages.

Sharing information you've found

If you think a page might be useful to a colleague or friend, why not share it! You can send a link to a friend.

YouTube films

This website uses a range of social media, including YouTube films. Some employers block access to such sites which means you may not be able to view this sort of content.
