The Interim Cancer Drug fund was established following announcements by the Chief Medical Officer at the Department of Health in July 2010.  This fund will help provide drugs to patients affected by which have previously been difficult to access.  

The link below is to NHS West Midlands website which gives full details on the Interim Cancer Drugs Fund in the West Midlands which has been established at of the start of October 2010. This link will provide details of what the process is in terms of how to access the fund, how decisions are made and what drugs are currently funded under the scheme. 

Please note this scheme is only available until March and is likely to be replaced by a National Cancer Drugs fund in April 2011.  More details on the National Cancer Drug fund will be made available on the tPCT's website once available.
