Your Services

Your health is important for you, your family and friends. If you are a parent, good health is the most important gift you can give your children. Good health is the foundation of a good life and enables us to enjoy life to the full. When we are well we are able to make the most of everything that life has to offer and to play a full part in our family, community and working lives. Good health means not living with the fear of illness or constant worry about our health or the health of those closest to us. It means being confident and feeling able to cope with the ups and downs of life.

Better health for the people who live in the Heart of Birmingham area is central to the work of our Primary Care Trust. The good news is that people who live here are generally living longer and living healthier lives but there are too many men and women who spend much of their lives in poor health and are not able to enjoy independence in later life.

When it comes to improving health our strengths lie in the commitment of local communities to support each other and to work selflessly for the greater good of others and the opportunities which exist for economic and social regeneration. However, there are still many weaknesses and problems which need to be addressed - e.g. poor housing, unemployment and the uneven quality of healthcare standards which are particular problems for our area. Each section of the website covers Tips for Healthy Living as well as services which are available to help people make informed choices as well as become active citizens for health.

Please note that from 1 December 2010, many health services transferred to Birmingham Community Healthcare (BCHC) NHS Trust.  For more information visit: http://www.bhamcommunity.nhs.uk/departments-and-services/
